Lara Croft RE\Visioned Final Epi

If you're a fan of Lara Croft we thought you might like these. GameTap have posted the final episode of the RE\Visioned Tomb Raider animated series. The episode 'A Complicated Woman' emphasizes Lara's... well ok, it emphasizes her breasts, but also her guile and sustainability, which is what we enjoyed about it.

Adding to the female quantity of this episode is a female katana wielding henchwoman in a skintight red latex bodysuit, which we hear is top of the winter fashion collection in HenchWoman Fashionista this month. The RE\Visioned Tomb Raider season featured 10 episodes in all. Season two has just been announced and will feature various Activision games heroes, including Pitfall Harry - a sort of male pixelated pre-cursor to the Croft.

Mass Effect - Lesbian Furore and Clip

Fans of the upcoming Mass Effect have a couple of news items of interest today. It seems the girl on girl action of Mass Effect is so upsetting, it's bannable. Apparently the game has been banned in Singapore (wehre homosexuality is illegal!! Strange).

Along with that rather depressing news, the 'lesbian' love scene from Mass Effect hit the net and some were disappointed it wasn't a little more full on. For us here at GirlGamers AU, we actually think it was very classy and tastefully done.

You can check out there video below....

Warning: Apparently this falls under the MATURE CONTENT banner, so please be aware of that.

Imagine Ubisoft Getting it This Wrong

Oh no no no no no!!! You see, it's things like this that REALLY irk the girl gamer. The 'Imagine' series are aimed at the girl gaming market. What makes these games even more annoying is the fact Ubisoft claim to have researched this market and they're only making what is wanted. Which begs the question, wanted by who exactly?

The answer may well be 5 year olds, but then we have to call into question the sanity of any mother purchasing titles such as these that perpetuate female stereotypes from the 1950s. Claudine Beaumont of the Daily Telegraph has an interesting article about this series and it features Tracy from our sister site Thumb Bandits .com, so get over there and read it, then fume a little before leaving a comment here.

Kristen Bell Features in Assassin's Creed

Kristen Bell--best known for her teen detective skills in Veronica Mars and more recently her electrifying appearances in Heroes, is set to be not only the voice, but a character in Assassin's Creed.

The game will use Bell's likeness (above) and voice in a fairly major role. Great news for girl gamers since she pretty much exudes the cool. Here's hoping the character doesn't turn out to be a dud. You may recall Bell let slip a major spoiler about the game at the end of last year which got the gaming world in a toz for a few minutes. Assassin's Creed launches within mere days / weeks depending on your whereabouts.

Thanks to LesbianGamers .com for the heads up on this one.

NiGHTS Journey of Dreams Uses Weather Channel

The upcoming title 'NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams for Nintendo Wii will use the Wii Weather Channel in-game. This feature enables the game’s “My Dream” area, a customizable sand-box environment that allows gamers to capture, raise, and even combine the inhabitants (A-Life) from the world of Nightopia, to generate real-time weather effects specific to the territory players previously registered with on the Wii (so for those of us on the Gold Coast, it'll sunny most of the time, for those of you in the UK.. not so much lol).

The game will also feature an online-enabled two-player mode allowing gamers to race and battle against one another via Wi-Fi connection at launch on December 18, 2007. The game will feature two young characters Helen and Will who fall asleep and meet NiGHTS, the familiar jester character who leads them on an adventure.

Rock Band Goes Gold Stiffs Ozzies

Okay so Australia is a wonderful country.. Europe too, a great place to live.. so why we get stiffed consistently by publishers is a mystery, other than the fact we moan and bitch about it, then buy the products anyway.. case in point Rock Band.

Rock Band has just gone gold, yes folks, the final version is on the magical golden disc to be printed by the kajillion. US gamers will get to play the game from November 20, just in time for Santa. The game will release in Europe and here in Australia, some time in Q1 2008.

We're not bitter, we're not even angry, we're bored, bored of waiting and being seen as the least most important places on the publishers release schedules. Now, times that boredom by two and add in the girl gaming aspect, again that you're secondary and non important and maybe you'll understand what we're always whining on about.

Playboy Does Gaming .. Again

Yes it's that time of the year again, when pimply boys and grown men alike can ogle virtual booty and get their rocks off. Of course we know men only read Playboy for the interesting and informative world views and articles that appear within. And of course anyone ogling.. we mean examining the fine detail of the virtual artwork, such as skin tone, light and shadow effects is sure to be impressed.

For the female gamer though this just perpetuates one of the big issues within the realm of gaming--the inextricable linkage of female games characters and sexual identity. Not to mention also perpetuating the myth (at least we hope it's just a myth) that a lot of male gamers are sad social misfits who buy porn because they don't know how to communicate with real women... or something. The virtual 'babe's issue is on sale in December... -yawn-.
